Udai Sagar Lake

Udai Sagar Lake is located in Udaipur, Rajasthan, a state in India. Udai Sagar Lake is one of the five most famous lakes in Udaipur; all these lakes were built by the rulers of Mewar, including Udai Sagar Lake. There is a major history s behind this lake. A major battle was fought here when Maharana Pratap Singh refused to surrender himself to the Mughal Emperors in the year 1573. When the King refused and insulted Kunwar Man Singh (who sent the invitation along with the terms and condition for surrendering to the Mughal Emperor Akbar), Battle of Haldighati was fought alongside this lake.

The Maharana Raj Singh defeated the army of the Aurangzeb Emperor at the banks of the Udai Sagar Lake. Therefore, this lake is considered as the most important lake in the books of the rulers of Mewar. Tourists can enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake and will be able to view blue waters harvested from rain and the rivers at this lake. The Udai Sagar Lake is surely a must visit one if you are visiting Rajasthan.

History of Udai Sagar Lake:
Maharana Udai Singh developed this dam on Berach River, to guarantee sufficient supply of water in his kingdom. Dam at Udaisagar Lake depletes around 479 sq km of the nation and spreads a territory of 10.5 sq kms. It has a capacity limit of 23.4 milli cubic meter. To deal with the flooding lake amid blustery season, one channel has been made associating with Berach River. Today, the water of this lake is utilized in the zinc smelter near Debari. The lake typically has a lot of water except for lean years.

In 1573, Maharana Pratap Singh was welcomed by Kunwar Man Singh on the banks of Udai Sagar Lake to discuss the surrendering terms and conditions to Akbar (Mughal Emperor). The welcome was declined by Pratap Singh and he even offended Man Singh. This episode prompted the Battle of Haldighati in 1576. Afterward, Maharana Raj Singh vanquished the military of Emperor Aurangzeb close to the dike of Udai Sagar Lake. Individuals visit this lake to appreciate the peaceful waters of this lake.
