Kumbhalgarh History

The History of Kumbhalgarh Fort itself was invincible even after seeing so many ups and downs. Kumbhalgarh Fort is located in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan. Palaces, temples and residential buildings were built at high places in this fort and flat land was used for agricultural work. At the same time, this fort was made as self-supporting as possible by using sloping sections for reservoirs. Within this fort there is another stronghold known as Katargarh. This stronghold is protected by seven huge gates and sophisticated ramparts. In the top part of this citadel is Badal Mahal. Kumbha Mahal is at the top in Katargarh.

Kumbhalgarh, the birthplace of Maharana Pratap, has been the crisis capital of Mewar in a way. From Maharana Kumbha to the time of Maharana Raj Singh, the royal family lived in this fort during the invasions on Mewar. This was the childhood of Kunwar Prithviraj and Rana Sanga. Umbrella of the prince Kunwar Prithviraj is also seen in this fort. Maharana Udai Singh was also nurtured by Panna Dhay hiding in this fort. After the battle of Haldi valley, Maharana Pratap also lived in this fort for a long time.

It was only after the formation of this fort that the attack started, but except for one time, this fort was almost always Ajay. There are also many sad incidents of Kumbhalgarh Fort. The only Maharana Kumbha that no one could defeat was the same Shulveer Maharana Kumbha killed in the same fort by his son Uda Singh in the state Pipasa. Overall, the fort is a place of historical heritage and a place of pilgrimage for knights.

Architecture of Kumbhalgarh Fort
The Kumbhalgarh Fort lies a hilltop which is 1100 meters above sea level. The gate of the striking fort is humongous and is also known as Ram Gate or Ram Pol. The fort includes around 7 gateways as well as an overall of 360 temples within, 300 of which are ancient Jain while the others are Hindu. There is a holy place devoted to Lord Shiva inside which showcases a significant Shivalinga. One can also get a pretty view of the dunes in the Thar Desert from the fort.
