Churu City

Churu City is the small city situated at the edge of the Thar desert in Rajasthan. This beautiful city is also named as the gateway of the Thar desert. Churu city was founded by the Chuharu Jat in the year of 1620 AD, after his name the city is named as the Churu city. This city is the Oasis and nestled in the midst of the wandering Golden sand dunes of the Thar desert. There are many famous tourist attractions for tourists because of its uni architecture; some of the major tourist’s attractions are Kanhaiya Lal Bagla and Suarana. Churu city is nestled in the historic Shekhawati area in northern Rajasthan.

Places to Visit in Churu City

Churu Fort
This fort was built in the 16th century by Thakur Kushal Singh of Churu State. Churu Fort also has a temple of Lord Krishna. It was attacked by the King of Bikaner State Maharaja Surat Singh Ji in the early 18th century.

Surana Haveli
Surana Haveli is a 3-story palace located in Prathiba Nagar in Churu City. It was built in the 18th century by Mallaji Kothari. That’s why it is also known as Malji’s Haveli. It was painted with Fresco painting style.

Sethani Ka Johara
It is a reservoir located a few km from Churu city. Sethani Ka Johara Reservoir was built by a rich widow in memory of her husband Mr. Bhagwan Das Bagla in the late 18th century. It was built to preserve the rainwater for daily uses. It also has many Chatteris (cenotaphs) around the reservoir.

Babosa Dham, Churu
This is quite a nice place located in the main city of Churu district. It is famous for evening Aarti and for Paidal yatra from one city to another. Babosa Dham is a well maintained and clean place, which spread positive power to visitors.
