Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking starts from scenic lake city of Pokhara. Basically a loop around Ghorepani and Ghandruk, the Ghorepani Poonhill or Ghandruk Trekking which usually starts from Nayapul and crosses the Modi Khola following a trek to Hile, leading you to Tikhedhunga, meaning sharp stone in Nepali. The trail leads you through crimson Rhododendron forest as we head towards Nanga Thanti, meaning naked patch because of its open field. As we advance forward, you reach the top of the Ghorepani Village where you can feast your eyes on amazing mountain views. Next day in the morning, the day starts with a hike up to PoonHill and after an hour you can reach a place from which you can see a magnificent view of the Annapurna range and other snow capped mountains. There the Gurung museum is something not to miss and not to forget the hospitality of the people. It serves right to say that every next house there is a museum, with unique pieces of culture. Then, we descend from Ghandruk for a couple of hours and last but not the least we ascend towards Nayapul and get back to Pokhara on a four-wheel drive. Spring season between the months of March to April and autumn months between the months of September to December are regarded as the best time to go for Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking.

Poon Hill Trek Distance
The total distance of the entire Poonhill circuit trek is about 51 kilometers (32 miles) for duration of 5 days with an average 5-6 hours of daily walk. The maximum elevation of the trek is 3,210 meters. The Poonhill trek starts and finishes at Nayapul including the popular village settlements of Birethanti, Hile, Tikhedhunga, Ulleri, Ghorepani and Ghandruk. Poon hill certainly is the major highlight of this trek.

Best time for Poon Hill Trek
Ghorepani Poon hill trek is an all season trek. However, February to mid June, September through November is the best times for this trek. It is winter during December and January and can be quite cold. There may be snow on the trail until early spring. July and August are the monsoon season and Ghorepani Poon hill trek route can be muddy and slippery at some places. The visibility can also be poor due to rain and clouds.

Difficulty of Poon Hill Trek
