Tsomgo Lake

Tsomgo Lake in East Sikkim. Located 35 km from Gangtok and at an altitude of 12,000 ft, the ethereally beautiful Tsomgo Lake is a must on every visitor’s itinerary. Embedded in steep and rugged mountain terrain, the lake is covered with snow cover from early winter to late spring. Associated with many legends and myths, Tsomgo is revered as a holy lake by the people of Sikkim. Rides on colourfully decorated yaks and mules are offered at the lake site, which also has a variety of eating stalls serving snacks and beverages. Snowboots and gumboots can be hired here. The lake also provides the perfect backdrop for the holiday photo. Tourists require permit to visit the lake, which can be obtained through Sikkim Tourist Information Centre located at M.G. Road, Gangtok.

The other must visit places of Sikkim like Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial Temple, Nathula Pass, Jelep La Pass, Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary that resided within the range of 10 km from this wonderful lake

Best Time To Visit
The lake seems different in different time of season like from Jan - March; the lake and the the surrounding hills are in frozen state, from April - May; one can visit the Rhododendrons and Orchids, whereas from Oct - Dec offers the pleasant atmosphere with best views of the hills.
