The Manipur State Museum, situated in Imphal, is one of the most popular museums in the state. It was inaugurated in 1969 by the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, and has ever since remained one of the most prominent museums of the state alongside being a very popular tourist destination as well.

The Manipur State Museum houses a wide variety of galleries showcasing natural history, ethnology and archaeology. It houses tribal clothings, royal costumes, polo gear, Buddha relics and war weapons used by kings and their men, to name a few. Built near Polo Ground in Imphal West, the museum also conducts awareness programs and thematic exhibitions.

One could either avail the public transport facility or simply walk to the museum when in Imphal.

Best Time to Visit?
Can be visited all throughout the year, but consider visiting during the winter season i.e., between November and February as the weather remains favourable to explore.

Visiting Time
The Manipur State Museum remains open from from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:30 AM and 04:30 PM. The museum remains closed on Mondays, 2nd Saturdays and on Government Holidays.

Entry Fees
The entry fees to the museum is INR 10 for Adults (Indian), INR 5 for School Children and INR 50 for Foreign Tourists.
