Ranisar Padamsar Lake <\/strong>is one of the most famous lakes in Jodhpur. The reason behind this is its historical importance and its picturesque beauty. The lake is located near Meharana Garh Fort and is almost 5 km from the heart of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ranisar Lake<\/strong> was built some 500 years ago in the 15th century. The lake was built on the order of Rao Jodha’s wife, Queen Jasmade Hadi. Rao Joda was the founder of Jodhpur<\/a>, and his wife the Queen ordered the construction of the lake. The lake was built for water preservation as Jodhpur being a desert city the water preservation was a big issue back in those days. Next to the Ranisar lake is another lake called the Ranisar Padamsar Lake<\/strong> which is also very famous and should be visited together with the former.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lake is scenic which makes it a must visit place for all the tourists. The best season to visit the lake is in the summer. The reason behind it is the cold winds that blow during the summer, which can cool the visitors both mentally and physically. Further, it is advisable to visit the lake during the daytime, i. e. between 10:00 AM- 05:00 PM. One can explore the Meharana Fort and when tired sit beside the lake and take some rest. The lake being all tranquil it soothes the mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development of the two lakes was commissioned by two different queens in the 15th century. Ranisar Padamsar Lake<\/strong> was made on the orders of Queen Jasmade Hadi, wife of Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur. Padamsar lake was created by Queen Padmini, the daughter of Rana Sanga of Mewar. These lakes were built to conserve water in the desert region, serving as excellent examples of the age-old tradition of royal women being in charge of overseeing the public water systems. Umaid Bhavan is a magnificent palace and grand hotel situated on Chittar Hill, three kilometres south of Jodhpur city. Most of the palace is now converted into the Taj Umaid Bhavan hotel. Due to its beautiful renovations, the hotel also hosts special private banquets and wedding receptions in its magnificent halls. Jaswant Thada<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Moving away from the chaos and mayhem of the old city of Jodhpur, the atmosphere becomes more serene and nowhere more so than Jaswant Thada, the memorial grounds for the erstwhile Maharanas of Marwar. Set is lovely, landscaped gardens, the cenotaphs of the old Marwar rulers are worth inspecting for their artistic beauty.
