The name Baneshwar is derived from the holy Shiva Linga located in the Shiv temple in Dungarpur. \u2018Baneshwar\u2019 in the local language Vagdi means \u2018master of delta\u2019. The fair is organised at the delta formed by rivers- Mahi and Som. The fair continues till Shukla Purnima of Magh.
