According to legend, after Barbarika’s sacrifice to Lord Krishna, his head was immersed in the Rupawati River. During the Kali Yuga, it is said that a cow spontaneously started giving milk at a particular spot in Khatu, leading villagers to excavate and uncover the buried head. This site became Shyam Kund.

Pilgrims consider a dip in Shyam Kund’s holy waters highly auspicious, believing it cleanses sins and cures ailments.
