Butati Dham Temple, also known as Shri Chaturdas Ji Maharaj Temple, is a renowned pilgrimage site in Rajasthan, located near Kuchera town in Nagaur district. It is famously believed to cure paralysis through faith.
The temple is built around the samadhi (tomb) of Saint Chaturdas Ji Maharaj, a revered yogi from about 500 years ago, who was known for healing ailments, particularly paralysis. Devotees believe that a seven-day stay at the temple, involving daily morning and evening aartis (prayers) and two circumambulations (Sapt Parikrama), can lead to significant improvement or complete recovery from paralysis.
The temple provides essential free facilities to pilgrims, including accommodation, raw cooking ingredients, utensils, and clean water. This humanitarian aspect, combined with numerous testimonies of recovery, draws thousands of patients from across India and abroad. The temple operates 24 hours and is a powerful symbol of hope and unwavering faith for many.

History of Butati Dham Temple
The history of Butati Dham Temple is deeply rooted in the life and spiritual prowess of Saint Chaturdas Ji Maharaj, who is believed to have lived in the region approximately 500 years ago.
Saint Chaturdas Ji was born into the Charan clan and was a revered Siddha Yogi. According to popular belief, he acquired divine healing powers, particularly for paralysis, during a pilgrimage with his brother, Saint Gangadas Ji. Witnessing the suffering of people afflicted with paralysis in Butati, he chose to dedicate his life to their cure. He would use sacred ash (bhabhut) from his havan kund (sacred fire pit) and instruct patients to perform circumambulations (parikrama) around his dwelling.
News of his miraculous healings spread far and wide, transforming Butati into a significant pilgrimage site. Saint Chaturdas Ji spent his entire life in Butati, devoted to serving humanity and worshipping Lord Shiva, reportedly living to the age of 108.
After his passing, a temple was constructed around his samadhi (tomb), which today forms the main shrine of Butati Dham. The temple continues his legacy, with devotees believing that performing the “Sapt Parikrama” (seven circumambulations) over seven days, along with prayer and applying holy ash, can lead to the cure of paralysis. This tradition has sustained the temple’s fame and draws thousands of pilgrims seeking healing and spiritual solace.
