Gadisar Lake History:-
Gadisar Lake was built by the then ruler Raja Rawal Jaisal as a reservoir in about 12th-13th AD. The lake is said to have been built to dry the region. This lake flows automatically due to a specific gradient of land. In the old times, this lake became a life-saving source of water in Jaisalmer, acting as a reservoir and water conservation system.

This lake was largely successful in addressing the water shortage. For this reason many believe that there was a natural oasis in the middle of the Indian Thar Desert and many people call it man-made. This ancient lake gets its name from its renovator Maharawal Gadsi Singh who revived the entire region in 1400 AD.
