Sardar Sarovar Dam

Sardar Sarovar Dam; the first largest dam being the Grand Coulee Dam in the United States. It has helped a lot in agricultural output and revenue of the region. The dam has two powerhouses – the river bed powerhouse and canal head powerhouse, which can produce a lot of electricity that goes to Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. It is a nature education camp for students.

The dam is well connected by road through Bharuch, Rajpipla (famous for Rajvant Palace which is being filmed by several production companies), Chanod, and Dabhoi which are easily accessible by buses and private vehicles. The nearest railway station is Bharuch, and the closest airport is at Vadodara. The place is surrounded by lush green forest and is beautiful to visit during the rainy season. The trip doesn’t stop here next comes the sunset point followed by Dykes & Lakes next Narmada Main canal. There are many religious places, eco-tourism sites, and educational tourism.

The dam provides the guided tour facility in the dam reception and has six points to cover which are a garden, the foundation stone, a lake for boating, the first lock gate and a trekking point for students participating in nature camps. The best time to visit the dam is the starting of winter, i.e., October and November.
